Somalia has faced extreme droughts and devastating floods in recent years, driving large-scale migration to neighboring countries. These shifts have disrupted livelihoods and challenged food security.

Clean Water and Lasting Livelihoods: A WHO–Sight Edge Partnership in South Sudan

At Sight Edge Research Consultancy, we are proud to partner with the World Health Organization (WHO) to support evidence-driven humanitarian programming in refugee settlements. Our joint work focuses on two critical pillars of resilience: Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) and Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL).

WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene):
Together with WHO, we evaluate and strengthen access to safe water, improved sanitation, and hygiene practices to reduce the spread of waterborne diseases such as cholera. By combining robust data collection with community engagement, we generate actionable insights that guide WASH interventions, protect public health, and build trust among displaced populations.

Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL):
We also examine how refugee and host communities meet their food and income needs. Our assessments capture household food access, coping mechanisms, and livelihood opportunities, enabling partners to design interventions that address immediate hunger while supporting long-term resilience and self-reliance.

Our Joint Impact:
Through our partnership with WHO, we deliver scientifically rigorous, community-centered, and policy-relevant evidence. This ensures that humanitarian actors can design WASH and FSL programs that not only respond to urgent needs but also lay the foundation for sustainable, healthier, and more dignified lives for refugee families.

Strengthening Livelihoods Through Evidence | FGDs & IDIs in Juba & Rubkona, South Sudan

In December 2024, the Sight Edge Research Consultancy team is in Juba, South Sudan, conducting Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and In-Depth Interviews (IDIs) as part of our ongoing microgrant intervention study.

Our goal is to capture community voices, understand local realities, and measure the impact of microgrants on livelihood sustainability, food security, and resilience in post-conflict settings.

Through these engagements, we are:
✅ Listening to community experiences and aspirations
✅ Documenting success stories and emerging challenges
✅ Generating evidence-based insights to inform future livelihood support programs

This work is part of a broader effort to empower communities and ensure that microgrant interventions lead to sustainable change.At Sight Edge, we believe data-driven decisions make a difference. Our team at Sight Edge Research Consultancy is currently conducting a data collection exercise in Ayod County, Jonglei State, as part of the microgrant project supporting Community-Based Organizations (CBOs).
This initiative focuses on assessing the impact of microgrants on improving livelihoods, food security, and community resilience. By working closely with local CBOs and stakeholders, we aim to gather accurate, evidence-based insights that will inform better decision-making and ensure sustainable development outcomes.Despite heavy rains and challenging field conditions, our dedicated team is on the ground in Ayod County, conducting a data collection exercise to capture valuable insights on livelihoods, food security, and climate impacts.
